Track & Field Improves Times at Pt. Loma Invite

The Whittier College Track and Field teams participated in the three-day Point Loma Nazarene University Invitational in Sand Diego, Calif. on March 24. There were no team scores in the event; it served as an opportunity for athletes to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
The men's team was led by Chris Gartrell '08.
He achieved personal-best times in the 100- (11.12) and
200-yard dash (22.39). He finished in fourth and sixth
places, respectively. John Morley ‘07
finished third in the 1500 with a time of 4:06.88. The time
was his personal best by over nine seconds. Matt Gocke
‘09 came through with a 5th place finish in the
triple jump with a mark of 36' 2.75".
The women's team was led by Dana Allen ‘07
who finished in 4th place in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 16.10.
She also finished fifth in the high jump with a mark of 4'
8". Stephanie Warner ‘09 took 2nd in high
jump with a 4' 10" mark and a personal-best of 99' 7" in the
javelin. Darlene Partida ‘10 took 5th
place in the 1500 with a time of 5:03.42. Erin Patterson
‘10 had a 6th place finish in the 800 with a
season-best time of 2:27.01.
