Track & Field Sends Athletes to Claremont Classic, Gangloff '09 Ranked Fifth in Division III in Discus


Shuree Gangloff '09 shattered her own school record in the discus by over six feet with a mark of 147' 5" to capture a fourth place finish in the event, as a number of Whittier College athletes competed at the Claremont Classic on May 5.

Gangloff is now currently ranked fifth in the country in the discus. She set a season best by ten feet and will be heading to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for the national championships on May 23-25.
Dana Allen '07, coming off her SCIAC Championship in the 100 meter hurdles, continued to perform well, taking fifth place in the event with a time of 15.19 seconds. Stephanie Warner '09 also continues to throw well, finishing ninth in the javelin with a mark of 107' 7". Monique Melgarejo '10 ran the 200 meter dash in 29.79 seconds.

Leading the men was John Morley '07, who set another personal record in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:56.21. Ryan Munoz '09 also improved with a time of 11.72 seconds in the 100 meter dash and 24.44 seconds in the 200 meter dash. Eric Shane '07 finished with a mark of 154' 3" in the Javelin. T.C. Collymore '09 went 39' 3.75" in the triple jump.
