2008 Track & Field Recap; Gangloff at the NCAAs
Track & Field continued to rebuild this season
and did so in a big way. Five women earned All-SCIAC honors in nine
events on their way to a sixth place finish in the conference.
Three men made All-SCIAC in four events, but injuries to a number
of top performers kept the Poets in eighth place.
2007 All-American Shuree Gangloff won a SCIAC Championship in the
discus and finished fourth in both the hammer and the shot put.
Rosario Rios-Aguilar traded her basketball shoes for a pair of
spikes and made a big impact on the team. She finished third in the
400m hurdles and sixth in the high jump. Freshman Kashima partridge
showed off her potential with a third place finish in the long jump
and sixth in the 100m hurdles. Freshmen Essence Scott and Shelia
Enos finished sixth in the shot put and discus, respectively.
On the men's side, TC Collymore won a SCIAC Championship in the
triple jump and earned All-SCIAC honors in the high jump. Freshmen
Brad Seitz and Brandon Wilcox also received All-SCIAC honors with
Seitz finishing third in javelin and Wilcox taking fourth in the
shot put.
Gangloff headed to the NCAA Championships May 22-24. She
finished 17th in the nation in the discus with a throw of 135'
11". She battled back problems throughout the competition,
and despite treatment was unable to reach the form that gave her
the SCIAC's top throw in the event (146' 7.75").
