Track & Field Team Members Compete at Pomona Invite, Gangloff 3rd in NCAA Discus

Whittier College track and field sent several athletes to the
Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on April 5 as they continue to prepare
for the SCIAC Championships on April 25 and 26.
Kashima Patridge ‘11 is recovering from a sprained ankle
and only competed in the long jump. She had a solid jump of
17" 3.25" for 13th place, placing her second all-time at Whittier.
Shuree Gangloff '09 had a great day. She showed her prowess
in discus to go 146' 7" for fourth place. She is right now ranked
third in NCAA Division III in that event. She also placed 11th in
hammer with a throw of 137' 2" and 13th in shot put with a throw of
36'.25". Sheila Enos ‘11 did well in the
discus (117' 11") for 12th place and shot put (33' 3") for 20th
place. Essence Scott ‘11 got in on the action with
a 102' 2" in discus for 20th place and moved up to eighth
all-time at Whittier. Scott also went 33' 2.5" for 21st in shot
put.
The men were led by Brandon Wilcox ‘11 as he placed 14th in
the shot put with a throw of 41' 10.75". Ryan Munoz ‘09
led the sprinters with a 11.83 clocking in the 100-meter dash. The
top three team members (TC Collymore ‘10, Devin Farrow
‘10, & Chris Gartrell ‘08) did not compete at this
meet.
Both the men and women will be back at full strength for the SCIAC
Multi-Duals meet on April 12 held at the University of Redlands.
