Track & Field: Partridge Breaks Long Jump Record at Oxy

The final regular season competition for the Whittier College
track & field teams took place at Occidental College on May
10. Kashima Partridge '11 turned in a record-breaking
performance in the long jump to become the Poets all-time leader in
the event.
Partridge placed fifth in the event with a mark of 17'9.5".
The previous record of 17'8.5" was set in 1990 by Shana
Jenner. Rosario Rios-Aguilar '08, who will be heading to the
NCAA Championships in the heptathlon, won her heat in the 400-meter
hurdles with a time of 66.74. Another NCAA Championship
qualifier, Shuree Gangloff, had a solid outing with a fifth place
finish in the discus.
On the men's side, TC Collymore '10 finished third in the triple
jump with a mark of 46'6". He too, has already qualified for
the NCAA Championships in that event. Brandon Wilcox '11 set
a personal record in the discus with a throw of 123'3".
The three Poets that have qualified for the NCAA Championships will
travel to the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh on May 22-24.
