2006-07 Poets Women's Basketball Recap

Women's Basketball had their best finish since the 2002-03
season. They finished 12-13 overall and 5-9 in conference,
putting them in sixth place. The Poets started the season
losing three of their first five. They won their next five
games leading into a second place finish in the Purple and Gold
Poet Classic. The Poets picked up conference wins against
California Lutheran, Caltech, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and
Pomona-Pitzer twice.
Senior forward Michelle Mascoto was named to the All-SCIAC first
team for her performance this season. She led the Poets with
11.3 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. She
ranked among the SCIAC top ten in each of those categories.
She also led the Poets and the conference with 84 steals this
season. Junior Rosario Rios-Aguilar was second on the team in
scoring, averaging 8.8 points per game. Senior Dana Allen
averaged 5.3 rebounds per game and junior Christa Rainville led the
team with 15 blocks in 2006-07.
