Women's Basketball Picks Up First Win, Rainville Finishes with Double-Double

Christa Rainville '08 posted a double-double with 15 points and
a game-high 12 rebounds to lead Whittier College to its first win
of the season, a 68-59 victory over La Sierra University in the
Graham Athletics Center on November 26. The win evens the
Poets record at 1-1 this season.
Rainville collected seven rebounds on the offensive end and pitched
in with three blocks and two steals defensively. Essence
Scott '11 finished with 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Rosario Rios-Aguilar '08 had eleven points, six rebounds and three
assists. Morgan Sabala '11 also scored eleven points,
including three three-pointers.
The Golden Eagles were led by Jennifer Young who scored a game-high
16 points and pulled down seven boards. Jodian Lyn went
3-for-4 from beyond the arc and finished with eleven points.
The Poets were dominant on the glass, out rebounding La Sierra
49-33. Whittier benefited from 22 offensive rebounds and held
the Golden Eagles to just 10 second chance opportunities.
Whittier went 4-for-6 from the three-point line in the second half,
and shot 38% from distance in the game.
The Poets are at home for their next game against Menlo College on
December 2. The game tips-off at the Graham athletics Center
at 2pm.
