No. 28 Women’s Golf takes 2nd at  Poet Challenge

CHINO HILLS, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Golf team took part in the first annual Poet Challenge Saturday at Los Serranos Golf Club and came away with a second place finish shooting a team score of 323.

They were eight shots off the leader Pomona-Pitzer (315) but were able to beat Occidental College (334), and Chapman (385).

Sophomore Taylor Beckwith (Turlock, Calif.) led the Poet scoring effort by winning the individual title with a 78 (+6). Freshman Kamryn Marie Garcia (La Mirada, Calif.) came up with one of her season low rounds of 79 that placed her 5th and Kajal Vitha (Whittier, Calif.) rounded out the top 10 with an 82 finishing 9th.

Junior Madison Crimi-Demichele (San Jose, Calif.) was a spot out of the Top 10 with an 84, which put her 11th and Ciara Clark (Henderson, NV) and Kainani Ho (Waipahu, HI) rounded out the Poet scoring with 86's that put them in a tie for 13th.       

Whittier returns to the links on February 25-26 when they take part in SCIAC No. 1 in San Bernardino, Calif. and Arrowhead Country Club.
