Women's Lacrosse Wins First Game in Three Years, Koffman '09 Tallies Four Goals to Lead Poets

Jessie Koffman '09 scored four goals to lead
Whittier College to a 10-8 victory over Marymount University (VA)
at Memorial Stadium on March 7. The win is the first for the
Poet women's lacrosse program since March 18, 2004 when Whittier
beat Mount Holyoke 15-7.
Koffman also picked up a game-high eight groundballs and had six
draw controls. Emily Mukai '10 scored three
goals for the Poets. Kourtney Sexauer '08, Cassidy
Lake '08 and Armelle Gueye '09 finished
with a goal apiece. Shari Brokowsky '08 made
eight saves in goal.
The Poets were down 6-4 at halftime before outscoring Marymount 6-2 in the second half. The Poets held a 19-17 edge in groundballs and forced five Marymount turnovers. Whittier outshot Marymount 24-18 in the game. Whittier's ten goals also mark the most the Poets have scored in a game since 2004 when they scored 11 in their final game of the season in a loss to Redlands.
