Women's Lacrosse wins final two games, Mukai '10 finishes season with 29 points

scored four goals and assisted on three others as Whittier College won its final two games of the season.  The Poets (4-12) beat Pacific University 12-5 on April 15 and then won 7-3 over the University of Dallas on April 20, both games played at Memorial Stadium.

In the victory over Pacific, Mukai finished with three goals and two assists to lead the Poets.  Kourtney Sexauer '08 scored twice and added an assist.  Shari Brokowsky '08, Jessie Koffman '10 and Cassidy Lake '08 each scored twice and Danell Booher '09 finished with one goal. 

The score was tied at four going into halftime, but the Poets tightened their defense in the second half, allowing just one goal while scoring eight.  Whittier out shot the Boxers 29-10 in the game.
 
 Against Dallas, Sexauer led the Poets with two goals and an assist.  Brokowsky added a pair of goals and Mukai tallied a goal and an assist.  Mukai finished the season with team-highs in goals (23) assists (6) and points (29).  Koffman and Lake also scored goals in the game.  Jessica Farrell '10made 13 saves in goal.

Dallas' three goals in the game was the lowest number allowed by the Poets all season.  Whittier out shot Dallas 21-16 and held a 26-15 edge in groundballs.  At halftime, the Poets held a 4-2 lead and once again, allowed just one goal in the second half.

The final two wins of the season give the Poets a 4-12 record on the year.  It is the most wins in a season for Whittier since 2003, when the Poets also won four games.
