Women's Lacrosse Opens Season With Win Over Pomona

Whittier College women's lacrosse got its 2008 season underway
with an 8-7 victory at Pomona-Pitzer on February 25. They
followed that with a 14-1 loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on
February 27.
In the win over Pomona, Emily Mukai '10 led the way with three
goals. She also picked up four groundballs. Ana Garcia
scored on both of her shot attempts and grabbed three
groundballs. Katie Clinnan '11, Shari Brokowsky '08 and
Sherise Varga '10 scored one goal apiece. Sarah Lamb '10 led
the team with six groundballs and four caused turnovers. Amy
Cirbo '11 was credited with five groundballs and three caused
turnovers. Jess Farrell '10 and Conny Joel '11 split time in
goal and combined for 12 saves.
Garcia scored the lone Poet goal against Claremont.
The Poets have their home opener on March 9, when they face Denison
University. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00pm at
Memorial Stadium.
