Poets storm back for 16-13 win over Puget Sound
FOREST GROVE, Ore. - The Whittier College women's lacrosse team trailed 10-5 at halftime of its game with Puget Sound on Sunday afternoon but the Poets outscored the Loggers 11-3 in the second half en route to a 16-13 win.
The Poets (4-5) trailed 12-8 with 14:44 to play in the game but went on a 6-0 run over the next 10 minutes to erased the deficit and take its first lead of the game, 14-12.
UPS cut the lead to 14-13 with 3:36 left in the game but WC scored the final two goals to ice the game.
Ana Garcia is credited with the game-winner as she tallied a free-position shot at 6:25 to put WC up 13-12.
Trillium Santin scored a game-high four goals while Garcia finished with four scores.
The Poets had seven different goal scorers in the game
Conny Joel made nine saves in the win.
The Poets return to action tomorrow, March 30, as they face Linfield at 5 p.m.
