Women's Soccer on Losing End of 8-0 Rout

Whittier College women's soccer suffered an 8-0 conference loss on the road to California Lutheran University on September 15.  The loss drops the Poets' record to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

Cal Lutheran (1-3-1, 1-0-1) dominated play in the first half, taking 18 shots in the opening frame.  They started the scoring early with a goal from Marisa Zambetti in the fifth minute.  It was the first of two on the day for Zambetti, and she also finished with an assist.  Just over two minutes later, Brittany Clark scored the first of her two goals in the game.  The Regals went on to add three more before halftime, with goals coming in the 16th, 26th and 41st minutes.

The second half brought about a similar result for the Poets, as Cal Lutheran peppered the Whittier goal with eleven more shots.  Three of those found there way into the net in the 53rd, 58th and 65th minutes.  Whittier goalkeeper, Lowhren Aceves '10 made two saves in the game.

The Poets continue play in the SCIAC with a road game against the University of Redlands on September 19.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.
