Women's Soccer Gives Up Three Second Half Goals in Loss to Cal Lu

Whittier College women's soccer lost 3-0 to California Lutheran University at Donald E. Graham Soccer Field on October 10.  The Poets lost 10-0 to the Regals in their first meeting on September 15.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie as the first half came to a close.  Whittier goalkeeper, Lowhren Aceves '10 made six of her nine saves in the first half.  Both teams had their chances; Cal Lutheran took eleven shots in the opening stanza, but couldn't find the net.  Both of Whittier's first half shots forced a save from the Regals goalie.

Cal Lutheran broke through in the opening minutes of the second half when Aubrie Smith scored in the 48th minute.  She tallied her second in the 53rd minute, giving the Regals more than enough cushion for the win.  They added another in the 60th minute to make the score 3-0.  Cal Lutheran finished with 20 shots in the game, compared to the Poets five.

The Poets host the number three team in the conference, University of Redlands, on October 13.  The game is scheduled to kick-off at 11am.
