Poets release 2012 women’s soccer schedule
WHITTIER,Calif. – Whittier College head women's soccer coach Monica Gerardo officially released the Poets' 2012 schedule this morning. Non-conference highlight from the schedule includes a trip up North to Salem, OR where the Purple & Gold will take on Willamette University and Whitman College.
The Poets open up the season with two home games against Marian University (WI) on September 1 and Pacific University (OR) on September 2, before hitting the road for a pair of staunch early-season tests at Willamette University (OR) on September 7 and Whitman College (WA) on September 9.
The Purple & Gold kick off Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with back to back to back home games on September 12, September 15, and September 19 against Chapman University who joins the SCIAC for the first time after being an Independent program in Div. III since 1994, the University of La Verne, and Occidental College.
They follow up this home stand with two on the road against Pomona-Pitzer (September 22) and Cal Lutheran (September 26) before wrapping up September play at home against Claremont-M-S on September 29.
Whittier will open up October action with a tilt against Redlands on October 3 before hitting the road for a trio of games against Chapman (October 6), La Verne (October 10), and Occidental (October 13).
Then in their final four games they split with two at home against Pomona-Pitzer (October 17) and 2011 SCIAC Champions Cal Lutheran (October 20) and two on the road to wrap up their regular season against Claremont-M-S (October 24) and Redlands (October 27).
The SCIAC Championships are set to take place on October 31 and November 3.
