WHITTIER, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Soccer team ended their 2018 season Saturday in a 1-0 victory over Caltech sending their ten seniors off in impressive fashion.

Prior to the game, Head Coach Derek Hanks recognized his seniors who were accompanied by their families, including Stella Thermos (Seal Beach, Calif.), Lyla Matar (Glendale, Calif.), Kanoe Morihara (Mililani, HI), Miranda Yzabal (Whittier, Calif.), Jenna Muise (Chino Hills, Calif.), Andrea Aldama (Gardena, Calif.), Mikaela Malsy (Westminster, Calif.), Clarissa Terris (Saugus, Calif.), Analisa Murillo (Murrieta, Calif.), and Aubrey Baran (La Mirada, Calif.).

The Beavers once again threatened the Poets but for the second time on the season were shutout as Whittier outscored them 2-0 over their two contests. It was the ninth shutout on the season by Whittier.

The decisive goal came in the 69th minute from Yzabal.  Morihara started the game-winning run on the far side feeding it to Terris who then served Yzabal in the box.  Yzabal then made one touch and finished putting the Poets on top 1-0.

Whittier outshot Caltech 15-8 and held the advantage on corner kicks 7-3.

Thermos earned the win playing 87:00 minutes collecting three saves in the shutout.

Yzabal led the offense finishing with four shots, with three being on goal.  Aldama added three shots and Amanda Ramirez (Yucaipa, Calif.) with two.
