Poets drop two matches in two days

WHITTIER, Calif. - The Whittier College women's tennis team lost a pair of matches over the last two days as Albion College and Sewanee University of the South both beat the Poets 9-0 on Ettinger Tennis Courts.

The Poets (0-7) started their two-day doubleheader with Albion on March 12. Whittier's No. 1 doubles team of Rachel Aelion-Moss and Kady Oliker stole three sets in their match but it wasn't enough.

Aelion-Moss led the purple and gold in singles as she lost 6-3, 6-1. The four games she won was the highest total for the Poets on the afternoon.

Whittier continued its twin bill on Friday, March 13, against Sewanee. The Poets got swept 8-0 at No. 2 doubles and lost 6-0 in seven of the 12 sets at singles.

Oliker won two games in the first set at No. doubles while Aelion-Moss won a game each in both sets at No. 2 singles.

The Poets return to action on Monday, March 16, as they host Salisbury University at 7:00 p.m.
