Poets pick up first win of season this weekend

WHITTIER, Calif. - The Whittier College women's tennis team earned its first win of the season this past Friday, April 3, as the Poets defeated Caltech 7-2. The purple and gold also faced Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe, Cal Lutheran, on Saturday and lost 7-2.

The Poets (1-14, 1-4 SCIAC) won all the matches it played in against the Beavers. WC took forfeits at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

Kady Oliker and Rachel Aelion-Moss got the Poets off to a roaring start with an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. Oliker continued to impress at No. 1 singles as she cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win.

Katie Davidson had an impressive showing as she won at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

The Poets did not drop a set all match.
