Poets fall to La Verne, 8-1

WHITTIER, Calif. - The Whittier College women's tennis team lost a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match on Monday afternoon to La Verne, 8-1, at the Richard Ettinger Tennis Courts.

The Poets (1-15, 1-4 SCIAC) won their lone match at No. 2 doubles as the team of Maryrose Vigorita and Katie Davidson rolled to an 8-3 win.

Vigorita had the best chance of winning in singles play as she fell 6-2, 7-6(7-5) at No. 3. Cecilia Nava also played a close match at No. 4 singles but lost 6-4, 6-4.
