Whitman ends Whittier's three-match win streak
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The Whittier College women’s tennis team had its three-match win streak snapped on Saturday afternoon as the West Region No. 12 team, Whitman, blanked the Poets, 9-0, at UC Santa Cruz.
Whittier fell in straight sets in all singles matches but was only shutout in a set three times.
Rachel Aelion-Moss lost at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-3, and Lauren Gelgur won four games in the second set in her loss at the second spot.
At doubles the Poets struggled losing 8-2, 8-3 and 8-1, at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 spot, each, respectively.
Whittier will turn around and play UC Santa Cruz on Monday morning.
