Julissa Tobias leads Poets at Pomona-Pitzer Invite

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Track & Field team continues to get great individual finishes this season as they again put together a strong effort, this time at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in preparation for the SCIAC No. 3 meet this weekend.     

Junior Julissa Tobias (Norwalk, Calif.), led the Purple & Gold taking home the top spot in the entire invitational, which included a :25 second PR, which beat a national runner from team New Zealand.  Her time currently stands 2nd in the SCIAC and 20th in the nation for Division III. 

Anahy Covarrubias (Los Angeles, Calif.) also put together a nice performance with a season best 2:15.38 in the 800 Meter, which puts her 3rd in the SCIAC and 16th in the nation for Division III. 

In the throws, Julia Reyes (La Puente, Calif.) had season bests in the Shot Put (9.44m), Hammer (22.46m), and Javelin (33.25m).  She currently sits 4th in the SCIAC for the Javelin.

Kourtney Brodnax (Culver City, Calif.) wrapped up the PR's on the day as she posted a season best in the 400 Hurdles (1:07.81), moving her to 7th in the SCIAC

Whittier hosts this weekend's SCIAC No. 3 meet at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, April 15.
