Volleyball Swept by Chapman, McMillen Leads Poets with 65 Kills This Season


Whittier College volleyball continued its non-conference schedule against Chapman University on September 11, but the Poets were beaten on the road 30-16, 30-17, 30-22.

Shanell McMillen '08 led the Poets with twelve kills.  She leads the Poets with 65 kills in five matches this season.  She also pitched in with seven digs.  Jennifer Salas '10 was credited with a match-high 18 digs.  Christa Rainville '08 had eight assists and six digs, and Victoria Larios '11 added six kills.

The Panthers were led offensively by Jill Felger and Kindsey Cargile with 15 and 14 kills, respectively.  Linda Ly led the Chapman defense with 17 digs and Kathleen Kowalski finished with 42 assists.

The Poets' next match is against La Sierra for their home opener on September 13.  The non-conference match begins at 7pm.
