Volleyball Loses to Redlands, Still Winless in Conference


Whittier College volleyball lost its third game in conference play, falling in straight games, 31-29, 30-26, 30-15, to the University of Redlands on September 25 in the Graham Athletics Center.  The Poets record is now 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the SCIAC.

The Poets had 19 kills in a thrilling game one, five more than Redlands.  Their kills dropped in games two and three, finishing with twelve and eight, respectively.  Shannell McMillen '07 led the Poets offensively with 13 kills and chipped in on defense with 15 digs.  Bibi Gonzalez '09 was credited with 20 assists.  Jennifer Salas '10 had a game-high 22 digs and three service aces, while Jessica Schlegel '08 finished with 12 digs.

 

The Bulldogs (9-8, 2-1) were led by Jackie Hamilton who had ten kills and ten digs.  Ashley Williams assisted on 31 kills and had 11 digs.  Dory Baga finished with a team-high 13 digs.

The Poets host nationally ranked #9 and SCIAC rival, University of La Verne on September 29.  The match is scheduled to begin at 6pm in the Graham Athletics Center.
