McMillen's 16 kills Lead Poets to First SCIAC Win

finished with a match-high 16 kills to lead Whittier College to
a three-game sweep (30-19, 30-12, 30-26) of the California
Institute of Technology in Southern California Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference action on October 2 in Pasadena, Calif.
It is the second victory for the Poets this season and their first
in conference play.
McMillen leads the Poets with 151 kills this season. She also
helped out on the defensive side with seven digs.
Lenny Recinos '08 finished with a double-double
(kills-digs) for Whittier with 11 kills and ten digs.
Christa Rainville '08 was credited with 20 assists
and Jessica Schlegel '08 had eight assists and
three service aces. Jennifer Salas '10
finished with a match-high 16 digs.
The Beavers were led by Kati Peters with nine kills. Lisa Yee
pitched in with seven. Sarah Stidham assisted on 20 of
Caltech's 23 kills. Ying-Ying Tran finished with 13 digs.
The Poets play host to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in their next match
on October 5. The SCIAC match is scheduled to begin at
7:30pm.
