Volleyball Seniors Get Back-to-Back Wins in Final Home Matches

Whittier College volleyball won their last two home matches of the season as they said farewell to seven seniors.  The Poets beat La Sierra University 30-6, 30-9, 30-25 on October 29 and swept Caltech 30-14, 30-24, 30-21 in SCIAC play on October 30.  Whittier is now 5-18 overall and 3-10 in conference play.

In the sweep of La Sierra, Lenny Recinos '08 led the team with ten kills and added six digs and three service aces.  Shanell McMillen '08 had six kills and three aces.  Shannon Orlins '11 finished with seven kills and Bibi Gonzalez '08 was credited with 31 assists and eight digs.

On senior night against Caltech, McMillen paced the offense with 21 kills and three aces.  She committed just two errors in 35 attempts.  Recinos also had a solid senior night with 13 kills and seven digs.  Victoria Larios '11 finished with a team-high eleven digs and Jessica Schlegel '08 pitched in with eight digs.

The Poets wrap-up their season with a SCIAC match at Pomona-Pitzer on November 1.  The match begins at 7:30pm.
