Water Polo Opens Season at Redlands Tournament, Galvin '08 Scores Five Goals in Two Games

Caroline Galvin '08 scored five goals, but Whittier College lost a pair of games to open their season at the University of Redlands Mini-Tournament in Redlands, Calf. on February 4.  The Poets lost 14-9 to Wagner College in game one and 12-5 to Cal St.-San Bernardino in the second game.

Galvin scored four goals and had two steals and two assists in the loss to Wagner.  Karley Perine '08 finished with three goals and two and a half steals.  Catherine Gouge '08 and Ashley Papenbrock '08 each added a goal and two assists.  Nicole Sandoval '08 was credited with five and a half steals.

In the second game, five Poets each scored a goal: Galvin, Sandoval, Perine, Indre Lauraitis '10 and Sarah Peel '10.  Sarah Wills '08 and Cheryl Bucholtz '07 combined to make 12 saves in goal.
