Water Polo Loses Third Straight in SCIAC, Poets Fall to Sixth in Conference

Ashley Papenbrock '08 scored two gaols and assisted on five others, but Whittier College lost 11-10 to SCIAC rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges at Slade Aquatics Center on April 14.  The Poets (9-13, 2-3) have lost three straight, all in conference play, and fall to sixth in the SCIAC standings.

The five assists from Papenbrock put her in fourth place on the Poets' single season assists list.  Caroline Galvin '08 scored four goals and drew three penalties in the game.  She leads Whittier with 63 goals this season and is third on the single season scoring list and third on the career scoring list with 166 career goals.   Karley Perine '08 scored twice and has 62 goals this season.  She also drew three penalties.  Sarah Peel '10 and Catherine Gouge '08 each scored a goal.

On the defensive side of the ball, Nicole Sandoval '08 had eight steals, giving her 107.5 on the season, seven steals away from her single season record from last season.  She is now the Whittier College all-time steals leader with 315 career steals.  Gouge had three steals for the Poets and Sarah Wills '09 made five saves in goal.
