Women's Water Polo releases its 2010 schedule

WHITTIER, Calif. - The Whittier College women's water polo team will face Division I opponents Cal State Northridge and George Washington along with a strong slate of conference and non-conference opponents as it officially released its 2010 schedule.

The Poets will take part in five Southern California tournaments which includes the Cal Lutheran Invitational, Claremont Convergence and a pair of tournaments at Chapman which make up a large part of the schedule.

Whittier opens Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at Occidental on March 31 and ends the regular season at reigning SCIAC Champion Cal Lutheran on April 24.

The purple and gold will play all of its games away from the friendly confines of the Lillian Slade Aquatics Center as the expected start of the expansion of the pool will keep the Poets on the road for the season.

The 2010 SCIAC Championships will open up on April 30. The semifinals will take place on the first of May and the championship will be on May 2. All games will take place at Pomona-Pitzer.

The Poets open the season on February 27 at the first of two tournaments at Chapman.
