WHITTIER, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Water Polo team remains perfect in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play Wednesday night as they rolled past the University of Redlands 12-6 at the Lillian Slade Aquatic Center.

The Purple & Gold continue to look strong in conference play as they remain perfect at 5-0, while improving to 13-14 on the season and winning five of their last seven.

Redlands gave Whittier some push back in the first quarter as they answered the Poets goal for goal keeping the game deadlocked at 4-4 at the conclusion of the period.  But in the second, Whittier pulled away as they continued to roll keeping a scoring streak intact putting together seven unanswered that spanned in the third quarter.

WC shutout the Bulldogs in the 2nd and received tallies from Zyania Morales (Commerce, Calif.) and Isabella Gorrocino (East Los Angeles, Calif.), which included a 5-Meter Penalty conversion that made the score 7-4 at the break.

Out of the half, Whittier added the first three connections that moved the score to 10-4.  The Bulldogs added the final two of the frame to pull within four but that's as close as they would get the Poets' Kendyl Riley (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and Morales would tack on another two that secured the win for the Purple & Gold.

Katia Montoya (Riverside, Calif.) played big in goal once again and finished with seven saves between the posts.  On offense, it was a diversified effort with seven different players finding the back of the goal with Gorrocino finishing with four goals on the evening.

Whittier has Senior Day this Saturday, April 8 as they host Caltech beginning at 11:00am before taking on Cal State Northridge at 3:00pm.  In between both games the annual alumni game will take place at 1:00pm.
