2017 SCIAC Championship Information

WHITTIER, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Water Polo team is the heavy favorite entering the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships this weekend as they come in as the overall No. 1 seed for the second consecutive year.

The University of La Verne will be hosting the 2017 SCIAC Championships, which will take place this weekend Friday-Sunday, April 21-23 at the La Verne Aquatic Center.

Whittier enters the Championships with a perfect 8-0 record in conference play and currently ride a seven game winning streak that stretches from March 29-April 15.

They are 17-14, 8-0 on the season and have also won 19 straight SCIAC games, which spans into last year (2016) when they won the SCIAC Championship Title.  They have also completed their second straight perfect regular season in SCIAC play.  Their last conference loss came back in 2015 when they fell to Pomona-Pitzer (13-7) and Claremont-M-S (10-7) but in the post-season they exacted revenge pulling off both upsets to win the 2015 Championship.

They are also currently the unanimous No. 1 ranked team in the Division III polls reported by the Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Association (CWPA).

The Purple & Gold will play the final game on Friday, April 21 at 4:00pm against the winner of the play-in game, which occurs at 9:00am featuring No. 9 Caltech and No. 8 Occidental College.
