    A tradition of saving their best for last continued for the Whittier College Women’s Cross Country team this past Saturday during the Division III West Regional at Bush Park in Salem, Oregon.

    The Whittier College Women’s Cross Country team raced their way to the center of the conference standings by improving one team position from their SCIAC Multi-Dual race from October 1 finishing 5th at the SCIAC Championships.
  • Women's Cross Country Places 6th at Pomona Invitational

    The Women’s Cross Country team made big strides at the Pomona Invitational on Saturday, placing 6th at the 16-team meet. Junior Julissa Tobias crushed another Poet course record as she surged steadily throughout the race. Tobias showed her heels to some of the top runners in the region, moving from 9th place at 1.25 miles, to 5th place at 2.5 miles, to a 2nd place finish (22:08.7).

    Juniors Julissa Tobias and Jessica Iribe asserted themselves from the gun, racing with the lead pack of about 20 runners apart from two breakaway leaders at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Multi-Duals Saturday.

    The Whittier College Women’s Cross Country team had an opportunity to test the best at the 36th annual UC Riverside Invitational Saturday.
  • Cross Country Camp Concludes with race in Carbon Canyon

    The men’s and women’s cross country teams opened their seasons with a high altitude training camp and race August 27 – September 3. The teams have been running long and hard at elevations exceeding 10,000 feet in the mountains near Mammoth Lakes, CA before a quick descent to Brea, CA for Saturday’s Mark Covert Invitational. “We use this opportunity to teach our runners how to compete on sore legs, with tired bodies, and compromised minds”, commented Coach Greg Phillips. The men scored a 4th place finish out of 12 teams in the open division. The women placed 6th of nine teams.
