Cross Country Competes at Redlands Invite

Nicholas Salomone '07 finished in 17th place to
lead the men to a sixth place finish and Darlene Partida
'10 finished in 12th place as the women finished in eighth
place at the University of Redlands Invitational on September
23.
The Whittier College men finished with 179 team points. Cal
Poly Pomona won the 10-team invitational with 34 points. The
women had 198 team points; Biola University won the event with 45
points. There were eleven teams competing on the women's
side.
Salomone finished in 27 minutes, 19 seconds on the 8,000-meter
course. Rapheal Rodriguez '10 was next to
cross the finish line for the Poets. He finished in 41st
place in 28:25.3. John Morley '07 came in
63rd place with a time of 29:29.5 and Yuki Miyagiwa
'09 finished just four seconds later in 64th place.
Eric Shane '07 rounded out the top five for the
Poets in 66th place with a time of 29:40.2.
On the Women's side, Partida's time of 24:21.8 was good for 12th on
the 6,000-meter course. Laura Guzman '07
finished in 34th place with a time of 25:58.8. Next was
Adrianna Durflinger '09 in 52nd place with a time
of 27:00.9. Jill Armstrong '10 and
Erin Patterson '10 finished four seconds apart in
66th and 67th places, respectively.
The Poets are at the Foothill Invitational at Legg Lake on
September 29.
