Cross Country Competes at Foothill Invitational

Whittier College traveled to Legg Lake for the Foothill
Invitational on September 29. The men finished seventh of ten
teams with 176 team points, while the women finished in fifth place
out of eight teams with 130 team points.
Nicholas Salomone '07 led the way for the Poets on
the 6,500-meter course with an 18th place finish in 21 minutes, 12
seconds. Rafael Rodriguez '10 finished 25th
with a time of 21:43. Nick Daum '08 was 53rd
in 22:55 and Eric Shane '07 came in 56th place in
23:03. Rounding out the top five for the Poets was
Yuki Miyagiwa '09 in 57th place with a time of
23:04.
On the women's side, Darlene Partida '10 was
the first Poet to cross the finish line of the 5,000-meter course
in eleventh place with a time of 19:19. Laura Guzman
'07 was next in 21st place in 20:16. In 30th place
was Adrianna Durflinger '09 with a time of
21:15. Allison Billroth-MacLurg '07 (22:49)
and Erin Patterson '10 (22:50) finished in 46th
and 47th, respectively.
The Poets travel to La Mirada Park for the SCIAC Multi Dual
Championships on October 14.
