Cross Country Competes at SCIAC Dual Meet, Partida '10 Finishes 6th on Women's Side


Whittier College competed in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Multi Dual Meet held at La Mirada Park on October 14.  The men's team finished with a 2-5 record, with wins over the University of Redlands and the California Institute of Technology.  The women finished 0-7.

Darlene Partida '10 was the medalist for the women.  She finished in sixth place of the 78 runners with a time of 23 minutes, 44.7 seconds on the 6,000-meter course. 

Laura Guzman '07 was next for the women in 31st place with a time of 25:32.6.  Adrianna Durflinger '09 finished in 52nd place with a time of 27:18.2.  Rounding out the top five for the women was Jill Armstrong '10 in 66th place (28:45.9) and Erin Patterson '10 in 67th place (28:49.9).

On the men's side, Nicholas Salomone'07 finished in 16th place in the 87-runner field with a time of 27:51.4 on the 8,000-meter course.  Next for the Poets was Raphael Rodriguez '10 in 29th place with a time of 28:43.7.  Yuki Miyagiwa '10 had a time of 29:27.0, which was good for a 48th place finish.  Nick Daum '09 was the fourth Poet across the finish line.  He ended up 48th in 29:38.3.  Rounding out the top five for the men was Cameron Pye '10 in 61st place with a time of 30:37.0.

The Poets are in action again on October 28th at the SCIAC Championships at Prado Park.  The race starts at 9am.
