Cross Country Competes at SCIAC Multi-Duals, Partida '10 Finishes Fourth for Women

finished in fourth place out of 78 runners to lead the Whittier
College women's cross country team to a 2-5 record at the SCIAC
Multi-Dual Meet at Prado Park in Chino, Calif., on October
13. The men's team also competed in the event, and they
finished with a 1-6 record.
The women were credited with wins over Caltech and La Verne.
Partida crossed the finish line with a time of 24:45.28 on the
6,000-meter course. Julia Tyack '08 made a
strong debut after nearly a two year absence from Poet cross
country. She finished in 26th place with a time of
26:25.83. Jessica Mena '11 was next for the
Poets in 40th place with a time of 27:40.51 and
Megan Reynolds '11 was 50th in
28:44.23. Adrianna Durflinger '09 rounded
out the Poets top five in 52nd place with a time of
28:50.24.
On the men's side, Thomas Martinez '11 was the
first Poet across the finish line in 38th place in the
78-runner field. He finished with a time of 28:55.03 on the
8,000-meter course. Nick Daum '08 was next
for the Poets in 45th place with a time of
29:21.66. Bryce Holewinski '11 was
54th in 30:00.19 and Cameron Pye '10
was 64th in 32:05.22. Rounding out the top five
was Jonathan Nagayama '10 who finished
75th with a time of 34:55.80.
The Poets are in action again on October 27th, when they
compete in the SCIAC Championships at La Mirada Park. The
meet is scheduled to begin at 9am.
