Partida '10 Earns All-SCIAC Honors at SCIAC Championships
Darlene Partida '10 earned All-SCIAC honors at
the SCIAC Cross Country Championships at La Mirada Park on October
27. She finished in third place to lead the Whittier College
women's team to sixth place in the meet. The Whittier men
finished in seventh.
Partida shaved an incredible 45 seconds off of her career best with
a time of 23:01.71 on the 6,000-meter course. She earned
All-SCIAC honors in 2006 as well. In the SCIAC multi-dual
meet on October 13, Partida finished in fourth place.
Julia Tyack '08 was next across the finish
line for the Poets, finishing 36th with a time of
25:25.01. Whittier finished with 171 team points;
Occidental won the meet with 43 points.
On the men's side, Nick Daum '08 was the fastest
Poet with a 39th place finish in 28:59.
Thomas Martinez '11 and Bryce Holewinski
'11 finished in 54th and 56th place,
respectively on the 8,000-meter course. Occidental won the
men's competition with 27 team points as they finished with the
meet's top three finishers. Whittier finished with 200
points.
