Callaway and Partida recognized by USTFCCCA
NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its 2008 All-Academic team on Thursday and the Whittier College women's cross country team was recognized with two students-athletes named to the team.
Junior Darlene Partida and freshman Michele Callaway were among the 219 student-athletes that garnered a spot on the team.
The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference had seven female student-athletes honored with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer each having two student-athletes recognized.
Of the 219 student-athletes named to the team 41 were freshman, 37 were sophomores, 71 were juniors, 69 were seniors and one was a graduate student.
Amherst senior Elise Tropiano was named the USTFCCCA Women's NCAA Division III Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year.
