Whittier's 3.21 GPA earns them All-Academic Team honors

NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recognized the Whittier College women's cross country team for the second time this off-season as it named the program an All-Academic Team for the 2008 season on Monday afternoon.
The Poets finished the season with a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.21 as they were one of five Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools recognized.
Whittier joined Occidental College, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and the University of Redlands.
Earlier this year Michele Callaway and Darlena Partida garnered a spot on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
Forty percent of the NCAA institutions that sponsor women's cross country received the honor.
Middlebury College was named the 2008 Scholar Team of the Year. The finished as Division III National Champions and had a team GPA of 3.48.
