Women's XC ranked No. 10 in West Region


NEW ORLEANS - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association released its annual regional rankings on Monday, September 7, and the Whittier College women's cross country team came in at No. 10 in the West.

The Poets put forth a strong showing this past weekend at the Titan Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton with a 16th place finish out 26 teams.

Sophomore Michele Callaway was the top finisher for the Poets with a time of 25:02.6 in the 6K run. She finished 64th out of 263 and led the purple and gold to victories over Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rivals Redlands and Cal Lutheran.

WC is one of four SCIAC schools ranked in the Top 10 in the West.  Claremont-M-S is the highest of the SCIAC schools at No. 3 while Occidental and Pomona-Pitzer make up the other conference rivals with rankings of No. 4 and No. 8, respectively.

Whitworth was the top ranked school in the region.
