LOS ANGELES – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2010 all-conference teams earlier today and Whittier College outfielder Jacob Storrer was honored as a second-team selection.
Storrer was one of three freshman recognized by the conference and the lone Poet to land a spot on one of the All-SCIAC squads.
The freshman from Phoenix, Ariz., was one of the most consistent players for the purple and gold. He ranked third on the team with a .342 average and led the team with a .605 slugging percentage. He scored a team-high 29 runs, had a team-high 52 hits, drove in a team-high 26 runs, ranked first on the team with seven triples and was tied for the team lead with four home runs.
Storrer also had a team-high 92 total bases, was second with 14 doubles, drew a team leading 13 walks and stole a team-high nine bags.
James Kang of Pomona-Pitzer was named the conference’s Player of the Year. Redlands had a conference-high seven players named to the all-conference team.
