Poet SCIAC Preview:

Head coach Mike Rizzo enters his 11th season at the helm of the purple and gold with an all time record of 203-231-4. Although the Poets lost all-conference and All-American performer Anthony Cappelletti, Rizzo and company filled his void in the off-season with the addition of Cory Goodchild, Jabob Storrer, Darby Weppner, Chris Hylland, and Nick Amicone, among others. The Poets have returned 17 players from last season's 6-15 finish in conference play and bolstered the pitching staff with transfers Keith Hoefel and Albert Payano. Junior Reed Tuttle and sophomore Austin Straus, who played in 21 games apiece and hit .333 and .303, respectfully, will lead the offensive attack. Sophomore Ryan Schween will be the No. 1 arm this year. Schween made five apperances and finished with a 2-1 SCIAC record last season. Fourth year senior Kevin Pigott will provided the team with valuable experience as a starter and in relief. He made nine appearances out of the pen in '09.
