WHITTIER, Calif. – Senior first baseman Matthew Macey (Oceanside, Calif.) wrapped up a big week for the Whittier College Baseball team as he was named to the Team of the Week.

Macey was the force behind the sweep of the Caltech Beavers putting up career and record numbers over the three games. He batted .818 (9-for-11) with an OB% of .857, while slugging 1.455. He had four extra base hits and 16 total bases, which included two doubles, a triple, and a home run. He scored five times and drove in eight along with drawing three walks and finished the weekend with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Currently, he leads the Team in Runs Scored, Doubles, Triples, Homeruns, Batting Average, Walks, RBI's, OB% and SLG%.  In SCIAC he ranks No. 5 in Batting Average, No. 5 in Triples, No. 2 in doubles, No. 6 in Homeruns, No. 4 in Total Bases, No. 5 in Walks, No. 4 in OB% and No. 2 in SLG%.

Whittier has a big three game series this weekend against Claremont-M-S.  They travel to take on the Stags on Friday, April 20 at 3:00pm before hosting a doubleheader on Saturday, April 21 with game times set for 11:00am and 2:30pm.
