WHITTIER, Calif. – Whittier College Head Baseball Coach Mike Rizzo officially announced his 2019 slate Monday, which includes nine match-ups with non-conference teams and a trip to the Pacific Northwest.
The annual alumni game is set for February 2 beginning at 10:30am and the very next week, Whittier hosts Vanguard University for an exhibition on Thursday, February 7.
Whittier opens their regular season schedule on February 8-9 with a three game series with Willamette University and then wraps up February play with their Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opener with the University of Redlands on February 22-23.
Sunday, March 3, Drew University comes into town for a doubleheader, which then leads into a three-game series with Occidental on March 8-9. From March 15-17, Whittier will play four games in three days beginning with a single game against Bowdoin. On March 16 they host the University of Puget Sound in a doubleheader and will then take on Centenary (LA) on Sunday, March 17.
The week of March 18, Whittier travels to the Pacific Northwest for Spring Break and will play five games. They start with back-to-back single games against George Fox University and Willamette on March 20-21 and then wrap up their trip with a three-game series with Pacific (OR) (March 22-23). Upon return to California, Whittier returns to conference play with a series against Claremont-M-S (March 29-30) and will close out March hosting Lewis & Clark on March 31.
Whittier opens with back to back series with Chapman (April 5-6) and Pomona-Pitzer (April 13-14) before hosting Linfield College on Sunday, April 14 for their final non-conference bout. On April 19-20 they take on Caltech in a series and then La Verne on April 26-27. Their final regular season series will take place against Cal Lutheran University on May 3-4.
