WHITTIER, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) office released their Athletes of the Week for Baseball Monday and freshman Dane Goodman (Ross, Calif.) received recognition for the first time as the Hitter of the Week.
Goodman in the 12th week of voting is the second Poet this year to receive recognition. Tim Turpen (Chino Hills, Calif.) was the other who received Pitcher of the Week honors back on February 25. Goodman paced Whittier to a series win over Caltech with a stellar performance at the plate. He was 5-for-11 (.455) with two runs scored, a triple and two home runs to go along with five RBI's. He also drew two walks and stole a base, registered a .538 on-base percentage, and a 1.182 slugging percentage. He notched a hit in all three games for the Poets.
Whittier opens up a three game series this weekend, Friday and Saturday, April 26-27 with the University of La Verne. They travel for a single game on Friday before hosting the Leopards on Saturday for a doubleheader.
