WHITTIER, Calif. – The Whittier College Men's Basketball schedule for 2018-19 was released Monday by Head Coach Mark Jensen who is in his second season at the helm of the program.
The Purple & Gold open with an exhibition game this Saturday, November 10 against Westcliff University inside of the Graham Athletic Center beginning at 7:00pm.
The season opener begins on the road for the Poets as they travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on George Fox University (November 16) and Whitworth University (November 1 7). They then return home during the Holiday Inn La Mirada Purple & Gold Poet Classic on November 23-24 hosting Rhodes and Puget Sound before traveling to Colorado on November 30-December 1 to take on Colorado College and Johnson & Wales.
Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play officially opens for the Purple & Gold in December with two road match-ups against Redlands (December 5) and Occidental (December 16). The other three games during the Holidays will be inside the Graham Athletic Center with match-ups against Johnson & Wales (December 8), Hanover (December 18), and UC Santa Cruz (December 29).
Whittier hosts their first SCIAC opponent January 2 against La Verne before traveling January 5 to take on Chapman University. They then go back to back on January 9 and 12 at home against Pomona-Pitzer and Caltech before traveling for two match-ups against Claremont-M-S (January 16) and Cal Lutheran (January 19). During the week of January 21 the Poets will host Redlands (January 23) and Chapman (January 26) before traveling for their final game in January to La Verne (January 30).
In February the Poets have five games with three occurring at home. They start off on the road against Caltech (February 2) before hosting Claremont-M-S (February 6) and Occidental (February 9). After a road battle with Pomona-Pitzer (February 13), Whittier will host Cal Lutheran on February 19 for their Senior Night.
