PLANO, TX – The Whittier College Men's Golf team took part in the Texas Cup over the weekend, hosted by UT Dallas at The Courses at Watters Creek.
After Day 1 action on Saturday the event was then canceled due to bad weather. Whittier was able to get their second round in before the cancelation but since the other teams were unable to finish the final standings were based off of the first round scores.
The Purple & Gold shot a 333, which placed them 13th. Freshman Justin McGrath (Cardiff by the Sea, Calif.) was the top finisher taking 42nd with an 80 (+8). Freshman Ryan Turnbull-Ward (Perth, West Australia) was the next to finish taking 55th with an 82. Freshman Roman Aragon (La Palma, Calif.) took 65th with an 85 and Nicholas Bernal (Huntington Park, Calif.) and Vincent Brunet (Ottawa, Canada) took 66th (86) and 72nd (87), respectively.
The only team Whittier finished in front of was Louisiana College who had two teams compete taking 14th and 15th.
Whittier begins preparations for SCIAC No. 2 next weekend, April 6-7. They host the event at Industry Hills Golf Course on The Babe.
