COMMERCE, Calif. – The Whittier College Men's Swimming & Diving team attempted one final push on the last day of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships but fell to 8th place totaling a 312.

The Purple & Gold had some catching up to do and got off to a strong start thanks to Anders Blomso (Shoreline, WA) who won his finals heat before finishing in 15th (17:11).

William Arnsparger (Long Beach, Calif.) was the second finisher in 25th (17:53.85).

Aidan Tol (Tustin, Calif.) stepped up in the 100 Free barely missing out on a spot in the finals taking 10th (:46.31) but managed to break the Whittier College record, which was a :46.48 from Chris Evans back in 2011.

Brandon Tran (Plainfield, Ill.) kept his strong performances going in his first year with the Poets taking 7th in the 200 Breast (2:07.36), while Robert Kaarett (Highland Park, Ill.) was 17th (2:13.34).

Baldwin was the last Poet to compete in the individual events this time in the 200 Fly and posted a 1:57.65, which placed him 14th.

In the final event of the Championships, the 400 Free Relay, the Poets capped it off with a record breaking performance as Sam Sutherland (Wahiawa, HI), Michael Laws (Anacortes, WA), Marko Miocic (Great Neck, NY), and Tol took 10th with a time of 3:06.75.  This time was good enough to beat out last year's team of Jasen Missailidis, Spencer Shiraishi, Tony Martir, and Tol who had a time of 3:07.26.
