WHITTIER, Calif. – The Whittier College Men's Swimming & Diving team despite having small numbers was able to roll Biola University in a non-conference tilt at the Lillian Slade Aquatic Center 125-84.

The Purple & Gold are now 2-3 in head-to-head match-ups this season with the other victory coming against La Verne.

Freshman diver Christopher Puellinski put the Poets on top early with a win on the 1-meter board with a mark of 104.75.  Then in the 200 Medley Relay, Michael Laws (Anacortes, WA), Zu Pigot (Miami, FL), Quinn LaCoursiere (Delray Beach, FL), and Aidan Tol (Tustin, Calif.) would take the top spot with a time of 1:38.16, while the "B" team of William Arnsparger (Long Beach, Calif.), Adonnis Rivera (Lynwood, Calif.), Devin Guade (Lakewood, Calif.), and Gianluca Bencomo (San Jose, Calif.) would take 3rd (1:44.73).

In the distance, Gaude went 2nd with a 10:37.22 and was followed closely by Tyler Chung (La Canada, Calif.) (3rd – 11:08.63) and Rivera (4th – 11:46.79).  LaCoursiere, who moved over from water polo this past week came in and picked up a 2nd place finish in the 200 Free (1:48.54) with Arnsparger, and Laws coming in 3rd (1:49.81) and 4th (1:54.16).

Freshman Bencomo picked up a huge win in the 50 Free going 22.02 in front of Gaude and Anders Blomso (Shoreline, WA) going 3-4 in the 200 IM.  Pigot then took over in his main event as he posted a 51.41 winning the 100 Fly, while maintaining his top spot in SCIAC and Division III.

Laws took 1st in the 100 Back with a 56.02 and Pigot followed winning the 500 Free with a 5:00.70 with Arnsparger taking 2nd with a 5:03.00. 

LaCoursiere continued his impressive debut in the 100 Breast winning the event with a 1:00.40 and then joined the "A" team of Tol, Bencomo, and Pigot in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:28.24 winning the event, while the "B" team of Chung, Arnsparger, Rivera, and Laws would take 3rd (1:33.93).  

Whittier has a break for the Holidays and will return to competition in the New Year, Saturday, January 13 when they host Caltech beginning at 11:00am.
