SCIAC Athlete of the Week

WHITTIER, Calif. – Freshman Carlos Heredia Viteri (Commerce, Calif.) received recognition this week from the conference being named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Athlete of the Week for Men's Water Polo.

He is the second Poet this year to earn SCIAC recognition following Julian Sandoval who earned accolades last week for Men's Cross-Country.

Viteri scored three goals in a, thrilling, 7-6 overtime victory over CWPA Varsity Division III top-ranked team Pomona-Pitzer, and added three more scores and two assists in a 12-8 win over SCIAC foe Occidental. Viteri highlighted the Poets' 2-0 week by finding the back of the net in overtime to upset the Sagehens who are ranked 19th in the CWPA Varsity Poll Top 20 Poll.

Whittier has a road game tomorrow night, Wednesday, September 27 against La Verne beginning at 4:00pm before returning home this Saturday, September 30 to host Redlands with game time set for 11:00am.
