WHITTIER, Calif. – Head Track & Field Coach Robert Neely officially announced his 2019 Schedule Thursday.
The Purple & Gold who also compete as an Indoor Team will open the season Feb. 1-2 inside at the Mountain T's Invitational hosted by Northern Arizona. They will then return to California to open their outdoor season on February 16 at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet. The very next week they return to Claremont, Calif. to take part in the Rossi Relays (Feb. 23), which will end their February competition.
Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition begins March 2 on the campus of Pomona-Pitzer during SCIAC No. 1. The very next Friday (March 9) the distance team will travel to Occidental to take part in the Oxy Distance Carnival, while some members of the team might have a chance to travel to the NCAA Indoor National Championships (March 9-10). During Spring Break the team will travel down to San Diego to take part in the PLNU Collegiate Invitational and will then return to compete in SCIAC No. 2 on March 30, hosted by Caltech.
Whittier will host their first meet of 2019 on April 5 at Memorial Stadium when they bring in teams to compete in their Twilight Meet. The very next day they again travel out to Claremont, Calif. this time to compete in the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational (April 6) before returning home to host SCIAC No. 3 on April 13.
On April 20 some members of the team will travel to Mt. San Antonio College to take part in the Mt. SAC/APU Meet, which will get them prepped for April 27-28 for the SCIAC Championships, set to take place at Claremont-M-S.
Whittier then has two regular season meets on the schedule with the Occidental Invite (May 11) and the Redlands Last Chance Meet (May 15-16) before seeing if any athletes earn a spot in the National Outdoor Championships (May 23-25).
